An elder Wells is being interviewed for a newspaper and starts telling the reporter about what really happened that influenced his fantastic writings, some fifty years before. The stories are tied together around London's Imperial College of Science, where he meets Jane Robbins, a scientist who is also interested in weird phenomena. The majority of the tales revolve around time, though the Crystal Egg involves an alien world, Mars, and the viewer can see how these experiences influenced his subsequent novels such as THE TIME MACHINE and WAR OF THE WORLDS. It's a clever mini-series and a good homage to the father of science-fiction.
