An African-American Sheriff awakens to find himself in an old prison-like cell and quickly sees that his arm is injured. It's ripped open from wrist to elbow, so he ties it up as best he can and starts exploring the abandoned-looking building. Before the scene cuts, we soon find out what has captured him. The film then goes to "One Day Before", where a group of three college students (one woman-who looks like Robin Tunney--and two guys) are taking a forensics science class and have to do a project. They decide to go to Felt Island, a place where the old, abandoned mental institution is (and, presumably, where the first scene happens). But in order to do this they have to pay off a local to take them out there in his yacht, as the island is legally off limits to people. The students explore the old place until they come upon that sheriff, barely alive and bleeding, tied to an examining table. They all freak out about what to do.
The killer/creature looks like something out of a Clive Barker HELLRAISER movie and the music is great.
This fifteen minute short is based on a feature script called "The Assignment".
