While part one had very little hype and just kinda came out of nowhere, JC2 had a party bus touring the nation. I loved part one! The movie was a nice surprise and featured a cool demon for a character feasting on human body parts, something sorta new for a change. I didn't need a sequel, but here we get one and it's actually pretty damn good. The concept is so simple it almost would seem kinda dumb. Kids trapped on bus. Flying demon picks off and eats kids one by one. That honestly is pretty much it, but it sure is a hell of a ride from point A to point B. There's some nasty FX in this thing you'll love! The coolest part is that director Salva features the flying aspects of the monster more so than in part one. We get too see how fast and powerful this thing really is in two. Two picks up right where one left off, that's a good thing in my book if you're gonna sequelize. After seeing this, I can say that the demon can take a hell of a lot of punishment and is as relentless as anything you've ever seen in pursuing its prey. The kids in this one aren't nearly as dumb or annoying as the bunch in Freddy vs. Jason and at times it does feel creepy and claustrophobic on that bus. Based on the reactions of the audience I sat with, the Creeper must be damn scary because I saw a lot of jumping and a lot of yelling every time the monster hit the screen. 2003 has actually been a great year for horror films in my opinion. Maniacs and monsters are back in style more than ever. Guess we gotta wait 23 more years for another rampage huh? Part two is worth your money.
