This is a surprisingly good horror movie, perhaps one of the best released in 2003, which totally took me by surprise as I despised the first JEPPERS CREEPERS.The movie takes place during the last few days of the life cycle of the monster (it appears for 23 days every 23 years), where is kills a young farm boy and then goes after a school bus filled with a high school basketball team and its cheerleaders. In fact, 75% of the movie takes place either on or near this bus.Ray Wise (TWIN PEAKS) portrays the distraught, revenge-minded father of the farm boy, who wants to kill the creature. He makes up this sort of catapult from a post-hole digger, which he mounts to the back of his pickup truck. When he intercepts a distress signal from the school bus he quickly drives there to confront the monster. And what a battle it is!What I like about this movie is that much more of the monster is shown-and how it can regenerate and 'borrow' body parts from its victims. It's much more malevolent here than in the first movie, more of a flying gargoyle than a Freddy Krueger clone in a trench-coat. Also, the movie ends in such a way that it'll be hard to make another sequel, though they could do it if there's another such monster alive somewhere.Who would've thought this sequel would be so good?
