This is a great character study, of a young boy who may be a sociopath and his stressed out mother (Vera Farmiga of ROAR, TOUCHING EVIL remake series). If there's anyone who should not have a child, it's this woman, as it's pretty much her who has affected her son's personality (or lack of it).
The trouble all begins when the mother has a new baby and her nine-year-old son doesn't seem to like it. In fact, there's the feeling he may do something unpleasant to his sibling and this is where much of the film's tension lies.
Sam Rockwell (GALAXY RANGERS) gives a convincing performance as the well-intentioned father, who doesn't catch on to his son's behavior until it's too late. Jacob Kogan's performance as Joshua makes the movie.
Rather than go the Damien/Omen route, I thought it interesting that they chose
chose not to show the boy killing anything, though it's strongly implied he's the one responsible for the deaths. This makes it even creepier.
