The Japs truly have released one of the better recent zombie films in Junk. Very cool shit here people, I liked this much better than the over computerized Resident Evil and the ton of crappy SOV things I've seen. Junk feels like the classic zombie flicks from Italy, for the most part. The FX are cool, not Fulci cool, but damn close. The end got a little silly, but it's always cool to see a torso running loose and attacking what's left of the human fodder. The plot is simple, but does have a nice lil' twist angle of having a group of jewel thieves playin' shoot 'em up, then going to meet their boss at the location of... zombieland! Yeah, it's another secret formula called DNX created to bring back some doctor's lost love. Of course the formula works with the expected (luckily for us) results and we get zombies. The military is in on it, there's a factory full of dead bodies just waiting to get a bottle of that shit knocked over on them, and our not so heroic thieves fall right in the middle of it all. Lots of blood, lots of bullets, and some nice gut-munching scenes rise this above what I've seen lately on the zombie front. It's all done with a good bit of style to boot. The super-smart zombie chick at the end was kinda goofy to me, but seeing her ripped into more than made up. The hype surrounding this flick is actually deserved. They say one man's trash is another man's treasure. Well, Junk ain't no joke!
