Here, in one of the most unsettling television movie in years, the killer is the main character. Barbara Hershey gives an Emmy-winning performance as Candy Morrison, guilty of chopping her best friend to death with an axe. When Candy is first shown as an unobtrusive wallflower and model citizen, she is shocked at the news that her friend has been slain--because she doesn't recall committing the act. Or does she? Through a series of flashbacks in both the psychiatrist's office and the court room, the viewer is convinced that killing her friend was the only real choice she had. The low-key performances and general feeling of dread this movie provokes make this worth checking out.
