The original KINGDOM (both mini-series) was quirky, original and creepy. KINGDOM HOSPITAL is just quirky, but in a bad, bad way. The commercials for the series advertised that the script reflects what happened to King in real life, namely when he was nearly killed by a being hit by a van. So this introduction to the series revolves around a famous artist who is almost killed by a hit-and-run driver. He's eventually discovered and taken to the hospital, where he miraculously heals his broken spine and eventually awakens from his coma. A really bad idea was him imagining talking to this huge anteater, which I suppose is to be creepy. It's just stupid-anteaters are not threatening whatsoever. All the doctors are portrayed as idiots (I guess King had a bad experience at the hospital) and the ghosts we see wandering the hospital floors aren't so impressive.Stephen King is a great writer of novels but an abysmal script writer, which is proved by his adaptation of the Lars Von Trier mini-series THE KINGDOM. I was going to sit down and watch the entire fourteen hours and couldn't get past the first three without gagging. KINGDOM HOSPITAL sucks as much as anything can suck.
