A fifteen-year-old girl, Alice Palmer, mysteriously disappears while swimming with her family near a dam and the police eventually find her body deep in the water. The father is the first to see her ghost, in her bedroom. Then, she begins to appear in her brother's photographs and videotape. But are they really seeing her ghost and are they being haunted? There's a big red herring and then the movie goes into an entirely different direction in the last half hour. Yes, there's one sequence that's particularly creepy and effective but it's like five minutes out of an hour and a half.
This is yet another horror film done like a fake documentary. I think enough have been done so this movie didn't have much of an impact and irritated me by its unoriginality. In fact, I was wishing I was watching an entirely different movie that also had the drowning of a Palmer girl. LAKE MUNGO is definitely not TWIN PEAKS. It's not even a very good horror movie.
