I really dug the first half hour of this movie, which is convincing as a faux-documentary about an evangelical minister, Cotton Marcus (Patrick Fabian) who wants to prove that performing exorcisms is a scam. He had done hundreds of them and rigged a lot of the effects, which we see when they film him doing one final performance. However, this particular exorcism is different. It involves a sixteen-year-old girl and seems to be the real deal, much to their surprise. This all happens after he does the "exorcism" and leaves. Then, she shows up five miles away at his motel room, catatonic. They take her to the hospital and the blood tests show she is pregnant--and they think her alcoholic father has something to do with it. Cotton is forced to perform another exorcism under gunpoint--and things get out of hand. Unfortunately the second half of this movie is convoluted and the ending was laughable and seemed like part of a completely different flick. It ruined whatever it had going for it. Also, there's a movie soundtrack throughout the entire film. While this does help the suspense it also negates the live documentary feel of the proceedings. If you're expecting a movie like THE EXORCIST or THE EXORCISM OF EMILY ROSE you'll be disappointed. Even if you're not expecting much you'll be disappointed...
