The box cover for this video is very deceiving, with a picture of a blonde, post-Borg Jeri Ryan (STAR TREK VOYAGER) dressed in a tight outfit and the lead guy hanging comically from a moon. In fact, the synopsis also says this is a hilarious comedy. In truth, this movie is a lot better than all this leads you to believe. David Arnott as Alan, an anthropologist who one day finds that he's the only one left alive. Everyone is dead. In the first scene we see him break into a camera shop and take a video recorder, bodies sprawled all over the street. Soon he then starts keeping a video journal of his post-holocaust existence. Then one day, while doing something quite embarrassing, he encounters Sarah (a brunette Jeri Ryan), who believes she's being punished by God for something. They both head back to Alan's mobile home and have sex. Although he's very much into her she's not so receptive-and decides that they have to find other people, which he's not too excited about. They do find another survivor, a back-packer who knows nothing about the end of the world. He's much more Sarah's type and the two immediately hit it off, which leaves Alan very much alone. He wants her back but how can he get her? He
starts to spy, with cameras set up all around their camp-and soon devises a plan on how to get rid of him. But plans backfire and things go in an unexpected direction for Alan.
I enjoyed this end of the world movie because, although I've seen this same scenario before in several films, this seems the most realistic to me.
