In the first episode time traveler/coma victim Sam Tyler encounters a criminal he knows, or will know, in thirty years and it seems that this same guy is trying to disconnect his comatose body from life support in 2006. Sam manages to change the time-line, though ends up actually creating his own problem in the process. In the first season he was more or less along for the ride, here he takes a much more active role, actually inventing a few things such as the "Stinger".
His feelings for co-worker Annie grow and he almost becomes resolved to living in this world 33 years ago...
The season does wrap up Sam Tyler's story, and we're given the answer whether this is all in his mind or if he's really back in time. I wasn't quite expecting the ending but it definitely fit the series and launches the premise for the sequel series ASHES TO ASHES.
