Eddie Morra (Bradley Cooper of THE HANGOVER) is an unmotivated writer who is having a bad day. Although he's received an advance he hasn't written one page. And his girlfriend, Lindy (Abby Cornish) has left him because he's such a bum. Everything changes when he runs into his ex-brother-in-law who offers him a new drug to try out. He says it has been tested and government approved. Eddie takes it when he gets back to his apartment and discovers that it rapidly increases his intelligence. Rather than using 20% of his brain power, as do all humans, he is now able to access 100%. When he goes back to get more pills his brother-in-law is killed. He finds the stash and takes them before the police show up.
Eddie soon becomes a millionaire and is offered a job by investor/multi-millionaire Carl Van Loon (Robert DeNiro). But someone is after Eddie, someone who knows about the pills and what they can do. And there's also a problem. He meets up with is ex-wife, Melissa (Anna Friel of LAND OF THE LOST, PUSHING DAISIES),who had been on it, and is now neurologically damaged. That is a side-effect of the drug-- it's fatal. Eddie not only has to avoid the people who are after him, he has to figure out a way to survive the medication.
LIMITLESS is an extremely engaging movie with a cool idea. Highly recommended.
