Edward Malone (Eric McCormack) is a journalist at the beginning of the 20th Century. He's working in London and wants to cover a more exciting story-so his employers send him to interview Professor Challenger (John Rhys-Davies). At first there's some conflict but then they become friends-and, along with Professor Summerly (David Warner) and aristocrat Jenny Nielson, go to explore "The Lost World". However, in this version of the Arthur Conan Doyle novel, this lost land is on a plateau in deepest Africa. There are some natives who are aware of it and have a secret tunnel that can take them to the area. The dinosaurs are not very impressive-very rubber-looking and 95% of the time see only their heads and their feet, which gives you an idea of the budget. There's also too much talking and not enough action. They go back to London with proof of their adventure, having brought back a pterodactyl. In the last scene they feel sorry for the poor caged creature so they let it go-and it flies over London.
