This A & E original movie is one of the best adaptations of the Arthur Conan Doyle novel I've ever seen, casting Bob Hoskins in the role of Professor Challenger. After Challenger returns from an expedition in the Amazon, with the recent bones of a pterosaur, he goes back to London to recruit another exploratory team to find the source of the dinosaurs. The group finds an isolated plateau in the jungle where dinosaurs have continued to exist. They also find a tribe of Amazonian indians who've adapted to the region and a tribe of ape-men whom they're at war with. After a battle, when the indians are about to wipe out the last of the ape-men, Challenger intervenes, wanting to protect this endangered species. But that turns out to be a mistake, when the ape-men call some Allosaurs to their rescue. Most of the group makes it back to civilization but ultimately decide to tell everyone that their findings were a hoax because they don't want people destroying this lost land.
