Thanks to Jimmy Wag-Yu, this guillotine film is much wilder than the Shaw original. Everything is taken to crazy extremes! Where shall we begin? Let's see, the master here is an old blind man who weilds the mighty head-chopper like it's an extension of himself. That's right, he's blind and can stil chuck this thing expertly enough to remove skulls at distance. He also carries some explosive balls he throws in case his main weapon fails. Pretty rough dude. He's pissed in this film at the One Armed-Boxer (Wang-Yu) for killing two of his disciples and, like anyone in any good kung-fu epic, vows revenge. How do you find the One Armed-Boxer? You go around killing everyone with one arm of course. The old fellow takes out anyone who even looks like they might be minus a limb. Apparently, missing an arm is quite common in China. Meanwhile, the man he seeks is busy training students in his school on how to walk up walls and ceilings with special breathing techniques. When the master finally does meet and challenge the one armed-boxer, all hell breaks loose and it's a battle to the death. This shit is unbelievable. The film, written and directed by Wang Yu, is a true 70's kung-fu classic with enough blood and weirdness mixed in to transcend the genre. Wait 'til you hear the soundtrack and see the other odd characters sprinkled throughout the movie. This is much more than kung-fu fightin'folks.
