Nexecon Petroleum has constructed the world's largest drilling and refining platform, located off the coast of Greenland. Before it is to drill down 5,000 feet they invite a news crew to record the event. Yet instead of oil they drill into a huge fissure, which releases prehistoric fish that have been living there for millions and millions of years. The first casualty is a worker who is bitten by this prehistoric bottom dwelling fish, which gives him a deadly infection. Then, on a trip to the bottom of the ocean in this type of elevator, they get stuck when the megaladon appears and attacks them. It first kills a guy driving one of the mini-subs and then goes for the larger kill. The shark itself is cool looking but the computer animation of the refining station, the Atlantic ocean and helicopters looks extremely fake, like a video game. I think almost every exterior shot is computer generated, which hints at how low the budget was. On the up side the story and characters are interesting, better than either SHARK ATTACK III or that other Megalodon movie, the name of which slips my mind.Directed by Pat Corbitt and Gary J. Tunnicliffe.
