This animated movie addresses all of the superhero/supervillain cliches and stereotypes with much success. Villain Megamind (Will Ferrell) and his nemesis, Metro Man (Brad Pitt), have the similar origin story of being sent to earth as infants as their solar system was destroyed. While Metro Man's craft landed with a family, his landed in a prison. Years later, Megamind manages to defeat Metro Man,which leaves a void in his life. He manages to become close to reporter Roxanne Ritchie (voice of Tina Fey) when he disguises himself as a human. Otherwise, he's bored since there's no challenge. So he gets the bright idea of creating a new superhero to pit himself against, only this goes horribly wrong and the guy ends up becoming a super-villain. So the roles become reversed and Megamind must step in as the city's new superhero.
I found this to be an extremely entertaining movie. I particularly liked the sidekick, Minion (voice of David Cross of SCARY MOVIE), which looks like ROBOT MONSTER with the addition of an alien fish swimming in the helmet part. Recommended.
