This short-lived science-fiction television series takes place on an experimental space hospital station, on the fringes of explored space, where both humans and aliens are treated. The majority of the stories revolve around two doctors, who are sisters, Haylen Breslauer (Maria del Mar) and Dru Breslauer (Alexandra Wilson). They don't get along, because of what has happened in their past. There's also Dr. Grote Maxwell (Joe Morton of EUREKA) and Dr. C.J. Jurado, who had a past relationship with Dru. Basically, it's "ER in space".
What I liked about this show is that it features some truly alien-looking aliens, such as Dr. Batung, who looks like a big slug. There's also Ani, an android nurse who starts to become human after being infected by an alien computer virus. Fortunately the eight episodes do finish up the threads of the storyline, so I wasn't left hanging.
The show reminded me a lot of S.L. Viehl's STARDOC book series for some reason, mostly obviously because of the human doctors working on alien patients.
The unsold pilot (half hour), which is a lot more fast-paced, presents the actors as slightly different characters, such as C.J. Jurado being a space-ambulance paramedic rather than a station doctor, and Dru as a full-fledged doctor rather than recently graduated from the medical academy and Ani as an alien rather than an android.
