A father goes camping with his teenaged daughter and new, younger wife, into the woods on New Year's Eve, 1999. They are all concerned that with Y2K there will be a problem, so they're going far from civilization where they think it will be save. Oh, they are so wrong. They are attacked by an inbred family of hillbillies who need new blood after their sister has given birth to a deformed mutant. In their eyes the daughter--and wife--will solve that problem. Meanwhile, there's a scientist out exploring, who thinks that an ancient creature will be making an appearance after a thousand years of sleep. It's sort of like the cicada--only the size of a house.
This is fun monster movie, sort of WRONG TURN crossed with THE DEADLY SPAWN. And it's great seeing miniatures and physical special effects used rather than lame CGI. Recommended.
