This is a Sci-Fi Channel reworking of the Greek myth of Theseus and the Minotaur. Here, the movie's prologue talks about an ancient kingdom who worshipped the bull to such an extent that they had their queen mate with one. Her offspring, a monster, was then kept in these tunnels beneath the palace. Every year they sacrifice eight young people to the creature, and one of them named Theo (I guess Theseus was too much of a mouthful for the producers) willingly goes in order to find his girlfriend, who was taken the year before. Once in the tunnels the people are hunted by the creature and die in horribly gory ways.
Tony Todd (CANDYMAN, NIGH TO THE LIVING DEAD (1991)) portrays the crazed ruler (and half brother to the Minotaur). The Minotaur doesn't resemble a half man/half bull, but more of a giant hairless rotted looking bull with sharp teeth. MINOTAUR was much better than I thought it would be.
