The feature debut of Jose Prendes is a very very funny movie, whose low budget status wholeheartedly works to its advantage. A few hundred years in the future, in an abandoned world that looks exactly like our present day, goofy ninja aliens have wiped out mankind with a plague--all except the sole survivor. Prendes, who also portrays this main character, has a good screen presence and his wry sense of humor propels the movie. After half a dozen encounters with the aliens he encounters a surviving woman, portrayed by Denice Duff (THE SUBSPECIES movies). Yes, this movie features something you rarely see in an independent low budget feature--genre name actors. In fact, Duff's performance is better than most of the movies she's been cast in (such as FROGTOWN II and the last few SUBSPECIES movies), a large part due to the comedic script. Also on hand are Conrad Brooks, in perhaps his best performance, as the leader of the aliens, and effects legend Tom Savini in a brief cameo. Check this movie out--it's like a MAD MAGAZINE version of I AM LEGEND crossed with an old Roger Corman movie from the 60's.
