Begins with a woman being slashed to death in her bathtub by an assailant who leaves behind a bow-tie as his calling card. Of course, the news quickly christens him "The Bow Tie Killer". Then the story goes to reckless lovers Antonio and Evelyn, who are speeding along in a convertible and jokingly hit a pedestrian, calling him a "stupid pedestrian" while laughing hysterically. Antonio is hoping that the serial killer will go after his wife and Evelyn wishes for the death of her invalid husband (director Mike Legge) who is being kept alive by his quack doctor. Then one day Antonio decides to act upon his murderous tendencies and pushes a plugged in radio into his wife's bathtub--but it doesn't work and only shocks himself. So he makes it look as if the Bow Tie Killer did it--and decapitates her. Soon after he runs into the doctor of Evelyn's husband, who can do miracles with needle and threat. When Antonio explains that his wife if decapitated the doctor rushes in and sews her head back on--and she lives! Least to say, Antonio is not so happy about this.
There's some other weird characters, such as a nurse who likes having sex with helium balloons and, of course, the killer himself, who has a very direct connection to the psycho couple. And as with any Mike Legge movie there's plenty of quirky humor and funny lines like when Evelyn turns to her lover and says "I thought murder would bring us closer together". MY MOUTH LIES SCREAMING is a good solid giallo spoof. And you know what they say--"There's always room for giallo".
