I'd been hearing about this monster movie from Russia long before it was available here-and it does indeed live up to all the hype. This is the first movie (of three), about those humans who have supernatural powers and the war between the light and the dark. The main character is somewhat the reluctant hero and it's believed that his ultimate decision to become good or bad will have major consequences in this war, which doesn't quite turn out how you think it will. The effects and transformations are very well done, particularly the change of an owl into a woman, and there's enough action and quick editing to keep you hooked until the end. In many ways this is superior to the similar themes explored in the UNDERWORLD movies. When I was done viewing NIGHT WATCH it I immediately wanted to watch the next movie, DAY WATCH. I hope it will be available soon.
