Hate to say it, but "Nightmare in a Damaged Brain" (a.k.a. "Nightmare") is a powerfully boring psychological serial killer movie...
A deranged psychopath is declared harmless after serving as a guinea pig for a new drug that is suppose to have balanced him out. Not so. He heads to Florida and begins terrifying the family now living in the home where he murdered his father and his father's S&M partner with an axe as a kid. His schizophrenia sparks old murderous tendancies and there's a few random murders thrown in (including that of a child).
This seems to be a pretty favorable entry in the low-budget serial killer sub-genre that has been compared to such big dogs as "Maniac" and "Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer". I couldn't agree less. If only the killer here wasn't such an intermittent character and actually displayed a little more tenacity before getting his ass handed to him by a 9 year-old kid in the "climactic" conclusion, I may have been able to get 'into' this a little more. The highlight scene, of course, involves a double axe murder which is quite gruesome and splattery. Overall, "Nightmare in a Damaged Brain" is a very forgettable flick...
