Rod Steiger portrays the owner of a Broadway Theatre who who disguises himself--as an Irish priest, a plumber, a policeman--and kills middle-aged women who remind him of his dead, overbearing mother. After he strangles them he paints bright red lips on their foreheads with lipstick. George Segal is the detective trying to capture him and Lee Remick is his love interest. Interesting characters, a good story and a truly demented serial killer make this a decent movie. Far better than the recent crop of serial killer movies.
