During the intro credits we see a cowboy riding his horse in the country. Then, by the time he arrives at the horse stalls he's not feeling so good. He then starts convulsing and blood vessels visibly expand on his face until he stops breathing, so he sort of looks like those vampires from the movie INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE.
That very same day Veterinarian Sydney Stevens is called out to look at a horse that is dying of the same symptoms. She has no idea what is causing this and the distraught owner shoots it to put it out of its misery. Then Sydney gets a report of another dead horse in the same community. When she sees a television newscast about the dead cowboy she goes to the coroner and manages to look at the body. It's the same killer as the horses. They call in the Center for Disease Control--and almost immediately the Army arrives, as if they were listening to all the phone lines. They quarantine the town. Of course, the heroic Vet is suspicious something else is going on.
PANDEMIC is underwhelming on about every level. It's written to stereotype, the story is predictable (the government did it) and the special effects look like they were done with a grease pencil. The lead actress is awfully wooden. Do not rent this. Keep it contained so it won't spread.
