In this made-for-cable movie, based upon the novel by Andrew Neiderman, a newly widowed woman (Cheryl Ladd) and her daughter move into an 'ideal' community, where everyone looks like members of the Republican Party. They all dress the same, they all talk the same. They meet the founder of the community, a psychiatrist (Michael York), who then gives them his special home-made vitamins to take. Well, the mother takes them and soon starts to change in behavior. The daughter is continually harassed by other kids of the community to be like them-and out of rebellion starts hanging out with the normal kids. She starts to date a guy in a red convertible-and this doesn't sit well with any of the 'droids', as she calls them.On the day her mother is to be wed to the founder they realize that he's controlling everyone through a combination of his mind-altering vitamins and radio waves, which he broadcasts from a huge tower on his property. Once they knock the tower down by crashing into it everyone returns to their normal selves. The police come and arrest the Doctor and everything is back to normal. This movie is a lot like DISTURBING BEHAVIOR and THE STEPFORD WIVES, which in turn is like INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS. Nothing new here and you know exactly what to expect.
