Craig T. Nelson is a scientist studying sharks in the Bahamas, leasing an island lab that was once used by the Navy during the time of the Vietnam war. At the start of the movie we see a flashback of that lab in late 60's-and the escape of some type of monster the scientists had created. In the present, swimmers in the vicinity start disappearing-and it turns out to be this creature. At first it looks like a bulkier Great White Shark-then, at one point, reveals that it has limbs and can walk on land.On one hand the monster is cool looking, this bipedal shark-yet it also kept on reminding me of that 70's cartoon Jabberjaw, so definitely left me with mixed feelings.Kim Catrall portrays Nelson's wife, with whom he has a stormy relation. She has brought their son with them, so it introduces this estranged family element we've overseen in television movies. The crazy ex-Navy guy, who knows all about the creature, is a little irritating and over dramatic. This was a two-part movie, 4 hours in total, when it probably should have been half that.Still, this is an interesting monster movie.
