I put off watching this movie for years; wish I hadn't because I was impressed. Johnny Depp's got to be the best actor working today. Curse is funny, full of action, and has great FX thanks to all that Disney money. The subtle humor had me rolling at times and I liked the way the movie looked. Kierra Knightley (which I'd enjoy night and daily) looks hot in those period costumes and actually does a great job as Miss Swann. How does Orland Bloom get all these great roles? That guy is in like every fucking great epic movie over that last few years. I don't know if he makes for a better pirate or elf, but he always plays in good flicks. This film is a bit darker than I'd expect from Disney, which is a good thing if you ask me. Cut Throat Island was my favorite pirate film; the Pirates series has surpassed that now for sure. The twists and turns and double crosses that play out here work so well with the action that the long run time flies by without realizing almost three hours has passed. The things set in motion in Curse start a great series of movies it seems. Watch with Captain Morgan's at all times.
