On one hand, I thought the story was more interesting than in the first movie, yet on the other I got tired of watching Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp). All of the characters from the first movie are back (including the monkey), this time hunting for a hidden chest which holds the beating heart of Davy Jones, who, along with the rest of his cursed crew, resemble various sea creatures. Davy Jones has this creepy-looking squid head, which also resembles that of the many-tentacled Kraken, which is this huge monster that does his biding and sinks ships, the Black Pearl among them.
As with the first movie, it really has very little to do with that PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN Walt Disney ride. Still, DEAD MAN'S CHEST is probably one of the better Summer movies of 2006.
