An engineer, Tom Newman (Peter Weller of ROBOCOP, OF UNKNOWN ORIGIN) working for a short-time in Africa on a dam, takes his two kids and his second wife (Bridgit Moynahan of UNKNOWN, I ROBOT) with him so that they can all bond. When he's out working they go on a picture Safari. The boy has to take a pee, so the ranger goes out with him - and he gets attacked and killed by a hungry lion. Unfortunately, he has the keys, so the three of them are trapped in the jeep until help comes. They've gone off road, so there's a lot of ground to cover. There's also several lions who are keeping an eye on the vehicle. This is not as intense as CUJO but the movie has good acting, good scenery and the lion effects are convincing.
PREY doesn't make you first in line to go on a Safari in Africa.
