The story revolves around the feud between the Hatfields and the McCoys, with Jodie Hatfield and Ricky McCoy falling in love and trying to keep it secret from both of their respective families. However, one night when Jodie and Ricky meet up for a rendezvous, with McCoy's younger sister as lookout, the Hatfield boys discover them and accidently kill the young sister. Enraged, Ricky goes to the old local witch and asks for vengeance in the form of Pumpkinhead. The ghost of Ed Harley (Lance Henriksen) tries to intervene with the wicked old lady but she says it's up to Ricky. And Ricky makes the bad choice.
One by one he goes after the Hatfields and kills them with the monster.
This is the best of the PUMPKINHEAD sequels, a far cry above ASHES TO ASHES, and gives a good reason for Lance Henriksen to reprise his role as Ed Harley. He's the cursed spirit, warning people not to conjure the demon. The Hatfield/McCoy/Romeo/Juliet story also works as does a subplot involving the local sheriff, who managed to evade Pumpkinhead five years before.
Don't be put off by this being sequel #3, BLOOD FEUD is worth renting.
