In some ways this movie is better than INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE. In some ways it's worse. On the plus side, it's very faithful to the book (though not quite as 'epic'), the actors are well cast and the effects are decent. The vampires have a different look than the 'veiny vamps' of INTERVIEW, this time with glowing eyes and unnaturally shiny skin. On the down side is the lower budget and the fact that the movie was made ten years too late. Anne Rice's books are great--but vampire movies have copied them so much in recent years that QUEEN OF THE DAMNED comes off almost like a rerun.
