The werewolf film has always been put on the backburner if you ask me. There are some great ones out there, but it seems like few and very far between. Hell, many of the better ones have come from other countries. Luckily, Rage of the Werewolf was made right here in the U.S.A and is a good entry into the sub-genre. Much better than the last few Howling films by a ways in my view. Werewolf fans would do well to buy or rent this movie. It has a way cool storyline and is paced very good. And of course there are plenty of werewolves and many other creatures along for the ride. The effects range from good to 'what the hell's that' but are very effective overall. Some good bloody scenes helped, as did the overall look of the movie which was filmed very well. The strongest point of the film is the plot though and fans will enjoy it. The moons' orbit has changed and effected people with a latent gene in a big hairy way. How big? Well, enough to cause werewolves to shutdown New York City. However, there are still those that are cursed in the traditional way. Two brothers with such powers are the main points of interest in the movie. Their differences in attitude are fun to watch. When the moon is full, the hunt is on. But who's after whom? And do you really need a moon for a wolf? Watch Rage of the Werewolf and find out.
