This is more of a thematic sequel to the writer/director Alex Turner's previous movie, LOST BIRDS, having many of those same elements. However, I've already seen this scenario before- a group of soldiers stuck out in the middle of nowhere, some of them going crazy, a body-hopping Djinn possessing them and messing with them, so it seemed somewhat of a retread. Plus, I'm getting somewhat bored with movies taking place in the Middle East.
While some of the effects are genuinely creepy, when the shape of the monster is revealed it looks like one of the creatures from a Sci-Fi Channel movie of the week (not good).
