There are movies that are either A) They are so bad they are good (ROBOT MONSTER, FROM HELL IT CAME) B) they are intentionally bad, as in a spoof (SCARY MOVIE movies, LOST SKELETON OF CADAVRA) C) those that are simply bad, and D) those that are embarrassingly bad, as to be terrible.
Many independent movies are written by the producer or director because A) they know how to write and wisely use their talents B) know that they can't write so they get a good scriptwriter or acquire a good script C) they think they can write because they are making a movie D) think they can write-and think they are also cleverly making biting social/film commentary.
Independent movies are always filled with "unknown" actors, which can be both good and bad. Some producers A) accurately choose actors who can not only convincingly act but look the parts they are portraying B) have to settle for the best with who they can find in their area C) blindfold themselves and randomly choose people from the phone book.
Given all this, I give THE REMAKE a D,D and C.
My biggest problem (other than all of the above) is that these characters are supposed to be remaking some "Classic" slasher movie from the 80's, comparable to HALLOWEEN or FRIDAY THE 13th. Yet this fictional crew, including the director and the actors, decide to camp out in location in small tents and show up without any film or video equipment. How are they making the movie?
