This movie is exactly what I thought it would be-dark, depressing and 'so what?'. Basically, a character study of five different individuals affected by the different drugs they are addicted to. We see them getting high, being happy, then slowly degenerating. There are some horrific scenes, such as when Ellen Burstyn starts hallucinating from taking too much speed and her refrigerator starts moving around-and later on, when a heroin addict's needle arm gets EXTREMELY infected and rotted looking. Yet, it isn't like this movie is anything new. I haven't seen this director's first movie, 'Pi' yet, and it makes me reluctant to do so...
