This independent horror film, written/directed/produced by Jerry Orzel, is a decent zombie outing, complete with quirky characters and a pervading sense of doom. The movie starts with several different stories going on, which all eventually connect. First, there's Bob, a policeman who is finally taking a long deserved vacation. Then, an interacial couple having car problems. And finally, a group of five criminals, known as the 'Fab Five' who go about committing crimes-and ruthlessly kill people who get in their way. All these people eventually end up stranded at an abandoned gas station where they are besieged by zombies. They take cover inside the gas station, which has its windows boarded up, and basically wait it out. But conflicts arise and some deaths occur. Will they be able to get one of the cars working and escape. And if they escape, where to? Is the entire world overrun by the living dead.I wished that the movie got off to a quicker start and that it was more evident this was going to be a zombie movie but I think the filmmaker was trying to emulate FROM DUSK TIL DAWN, where the crime movie veered off into a horror film halfway through. And a touch more gore wouldn't have been a bad thing.Anyways, what I liked most about this movie is that it reminded very much of a 70's zombie flick, more towards the Italian than Romero spectrum. It's a downer-but in a good way. The production value is good, with lots of extras as zombies roaming about the countryside, a great location and serviceable actors. I didn't even mind all the 'day for night' shots, they worked. For more info on this movie go to www.revelation2222.com.
