Rosemary Woodhouse (Zoe Saldana of GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY) and her husband, Guy, move to Paris, France. He's a struggling writer who is a writer in residence at the University. He's befriended by Roman Castevet (Jason Isaacs of AWAKE), who is on the board--and offers Guy and his wife cheap rent in the apartment building that they own. The apartment building has a sinister history, which Rosemary discovers later. Then, Guy makes a deal with Roman--and as a result Rosemary becomes pregnant with the devil's child. He feels guilty. Rosemary has strange dreams about the previous tenant, a pregnant woman who threw herself from the window. As the movie progresses Rosemary becomes more paranoid as to what's actually going on around her. Her best friend, Julie (Christina Cole-- who was pregnant by a demon in HEX!), is murdered as well.
This four-hour mini-series a decent adaption of the Ira Levin novel although I found the Roman Polanski version creepier. Hopefully they'll adapt the sequel, SON OF ROSEMARY as a mini-series for next year. Recommended.
