This is one of those television shows that I like only slightly more than I hate it—the only reason I got through the entire series.
Liam is a genius college student who has discovered that a huge asteroid is on a collision course with the Earth. It will collide in half a year and kill everything on the planet. He tells his college professor, who then disappears, and eventually meets up and ends up working for billionaire inventor Darius Tanz (Santiago Cabrera). Darius has also been working on a huge spacecraft that can carry over 150 people to colonize Mars—and this oncoming threat may be a good reason to complete this project. What throws a wrench into all this are a few things, including a hacker group and a coup against the President of the United States which could culminate in WWIII. It seems as if they can divert the asteroid with a magnetic satellite the world will still end with nuclear destruction.
Although I liked a few of the characters the series gets bogged down with too many side stories (from romance to politics) that aren't nearly as interesting as the main one, that of an asteroid on a collision course with Earth. What would make this more interesting for Season Two would be them launching the rocket to Mars.
