A husband, wife and kid travel to a remote island in the North Pacific to visit her parents. Once their boat docks they are picked up by her brother, who drives recklessly. In fact, later that night he accidently runs over a child and dismisses it as an animal. This child belongs to a family of squatters who are also living on the island. They show up the next day at the in-laws, demanding that they are given their grandchild to call it even. Of course, they refuse, which really ticks off the woods people. The squatters end up capturing and torturing the brother and the in-laws end up dying. The wife and her child are captured and it's up to the husband to get her back. The only problem is that he's not exactly an 'outdoors' type. The ending of the movie was a surprise, though it makes total sense in a twisted sort of way.SAVAGE ISLAND surprised me, sort of an update of THE HILLS HAVE EYES though the woodspeople aren't mutants or cannibals. This doesn't make the story any less harrowing, however. From Ardustry Home Entertainment at www.ardustry.com
