A US army convoy in an Eastern European country is hijacked and killed for it's cargo, a new form of weapon. But it's a giant hybrid arachnid, as the crooks find out when they are killed. The creature escapes. The general in charge of the project requests that Major Nick Reynold's (Jeff Fahey of LOST) squad recover it, though he won't tell him what the missing weapon is, which is sort of a mistake. I mean, wouldn't help to know that you're after an animate giant animal rather than some inanimate guns?
There's also a woman geneticist, Dr. Jane Preston, who had developed the creature. She explains to one of her investors how the bugs will grow much larger in size in just a matter of hours, so the longer they are loose the more dangerous they will become. But she doesn't know that its venom is transforming its victims into these crazy zombie people.
This movie is exactly like a dozen others, most of which have seen broadcast on the Sci-Fi Channel. The worst thing of all is that the CGI animation is brief and bad and the creature doesn't really look like a scorpion. The movie is gigantus mess.
