MASTERS OF HORROR episode directed by Joe Dante
Across the country there's a sudden, inexplicable rise in the killing of women, which quickly escalates to thousands - and millions. The CDC sends in a woman scientist to investigate but she's killed by the infected male members of her group. It's up to another scientist (Jason Priestley) and his friend (Elliott Gould) to figure out what is happening. At first it seems as if it's a radical religious movement but that's just a symptom of the real cause. Something - a virus or pheromone - is compelling human males to kill all the females, which would mean the human race will become extinct.
Much of the story revolves around the central character of the scientist's wife, who is a therapist at a battered women's shelter in Ann Arbor, Michigan. With his prompting, she flees with her daughter to the North, where it may be safe. It isn't. In the end, there's a chilling revelation as to what's responsible for humanity's destruction.
