During a storm at sea the captain of a fishing boat (Corin Nemec) witnesses one of his crew members getting eaten by a giant, semi-transparent monster. One of the creatures hitches onto the bottom of his boat and he ends up bringing it into town, where it proceeds to reproduce. Then, the beasts start munching on the inhabitants. But before they start feeding they spit out this acidic goop that paralyzes the victims,so that they are very aware of being eaten--and can do nothing about it.
The movie is an amalgamation of things we've already seen (or not seen) in Peter Benchley's BEAST, HUMANOIDS FROM THE DEEP (the original) and PREDATOR.
When the monsters are visible they are cool looking, sort of like these humanoid frogs. In fact, the original title of this was TROGLODYTE
