The third and final season of this show begins ten years after the end of the finale of the second season, in which the Seaquest was transported to help fight a war on an alien water world.
Earth is a different place, with warring factions and rising ocean levels. Ever since Seaquest disappeared a decade earlier, the United Earth Oceans has lost a lot of its power. But there is one man who has always been searching for Seaquest--Captain Oliver Hudson (Michael Ironside). Then members of the Seaquest crew mysteriously reappear on Earth, the same age they were when they left. And the mega submarine itself appears in the middle of crops in the Midwest.
Once the surviving handful of members from the crew are reunited, Nathan Bridger (Roy Scheider) explains that their memories were wiped for their own protection. He decides to retire and spend time with a grandson he's just discovered he's had, and Hudson takes over as the captain of the ship. Surprisingly, I liked him better as the Captain, as he's a much more interesting character.
Three new major villains are introduced. One is Deon, a business mogul who is always at odds with the UEO. Then there's Alexander Bourne (Michael York), president of the newly found country of Macronesia. And last but not least--and introduced in the last and best episode of the season, is the Chow-Dai, a secretive country off of China who have ruthless warriors. One of their pilots, Kimora, decides to defect to the Seaquest and she ends up joining the crew. I think this character would have been the "Seven of Nine" of this show, if it continued.
