Will is a 13 year old boy who is interested in the new girl at his English school. She gets his interest by dropping her red scarf on the school bus. His brother is visiting from America, home from college, and takes over his bedroom so he has to go up and stay in the old attic. The next day it's his birthday and another brother, this one overseas, sends him a belt with these strange swirling designs in it. He soon starts seeing these particular designs in everything. When he's at the mall the 2 security guards accuse him of stealing and take him to "Show them a sign" and one of the guys keeps tapping, with a clawe, not a hand. Will runs and they transform into ravens. He finds out that some of his teachers know about this and they serve the light. A sinister looking guy, The Rider, serves the dark ones. Thousands of years ago a battle was fought and the earth saved. The light was hidden in six signs and Will is the Seeker. So he has just five days time in order to find all of these signs, since he's the 7th son of a 7th son and all of that.
There was just way too much exposition in the script, telling him what's going on, what he has to do, blah blah blah. It doesn't help that the kid is so girly he makes Harry Potter look like Conan the Barbarian.
