If you see this on the shelves in your video store quickly walk past it! This remake of the 80's movie THE LIFT is abysmal, inferior in all respects to the original. The premise is that a biochip used in the computer operating system of an elevator starts having a mind of its own and starts killing people. The elevator is alive. Whereas the first version was dark and moody with believable characters the remake forgets all of this, opting for brightly lit sets, Hollywood actors and needless explosions. And it's become such a cliche to cast Michael Ironside or Ron Perlman as villains. Jeez. The building in which the elevator resides is called the Millenium building and looks like an amalgamation of the Empire State and Crysler Buildings, which is rather lame. The silliest thing of all is that, in all the city shots, you clearly see the Twin Towers and there's references to terrorism and how they 'almost blew up the towers'. They should've just edited these references out to make the movie more up to date. Not that that would've helped....
