For a pretty tame early 80's slasher, SS provides some decent chills courtesy of its great cast, Yvonne De Carlo and Barbara Steele specifically. People are dropping dead after renting rooms at a boarding house. You can tell there's some strange shit going down at this place and somebody is hiding a little family secret. Good for viewers, bad for boarders you might say. Babs Steele isn't looking her sexiest here, but she's swinging a pretty good-sized knife and that's what truly matters! For some reason, I found this movie creepy as hell when I was younger. I wouldn't go to the movies to see it when my Mom offered to take me. Nope, couldn't get me near it. The TV commercials and radio spots had me scared shit piles! Silent Scream and Dawn of the Dead I spooked away from and saw neither at the theater damn it! Years later, I'm thinking I should have went to see it, as it wasn't quite as creepy as I feared back then. Still, it has moments and is worth viewing if only to see Miss Steele and her maniacal tendencies. The moral here; don't rent a room at some big, spooky ass looking house run by a weirdo family.
