Stephen Baldwin (the little Baldwin) portrays a paranoid farmer who talks to himself about aliens. In the first few minutes of the movie he accidently blows himself up when he's drunk. We then go to a group of twenty-something friends who are packing for a trip. It turns out that Baldwin was one of the guy's Uncle.Once they get to the house they see what disrepair it's in. There's assorted metal junk all over the yard, an electrical fence surrounds the property and the inside of the house is utterly filthy. It seems that the Uncle was bonkos. But as they all work on the house strange things start to happen. There are weird lights at night and crop circles that mysteriously appear within a day. And then one of them disappears, the only thing left are these five metal surgical pins which she had in her hip. They call the sheriff (Billy Zane) and he has no logical explanation. The others are all freaked out and want to leave but that's when the aliens appear.Rather than spaceships they materialize from these bright lights that start in the sky (and which cause those crop circles) and attack because there's nothing to keep them away from the house. They are injured by electricity (the reason why abductions and UFO's are mostly spotted way out in the country, away from cities) and also can be killed by iron. One of the girls deduces that what we now call 'aliens' are actually what people referred to as demons in ancient times. My only gripe about this movie are those damn computer generated effects that make the aliens look like cartoons. They obviously didn't have the budget of SIGNS and should have gone the makeup effects route instead.Sure, SILENT WARNINGS ends up almost being the 'NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD' scenario, but there's enough twists and action to make you forgive this tried and true formula. It's a decent alien invasion movie.
